Honoring the Journey: The Importance of Senior Portraits

Senior year is a whirlwind—pep rallies, final exams, college applications, late-night talks about the future, and soaking in the last moments of high school life. It’s a time full of endings, beginnings, and everything in between. In the middle of all that change, senior portraits offer something really special: a chance to pause and celebrate who your senior is right now.

It’s About More Than a Yearbook Photo

Sure, senior portraits might end up in the yearbook or on a graduation announcement—but the true value goes deeper. This session is a moment to honor the journey. It tells the story of how far your senior has come, all the personality they’ve developed along the way, and the excitement of what’s ahead.

These portraits aren’t just pictures. They’re memories. They’re keepsakes of a once-in-a-lifetime milestone that deserves to be seen, remembered, and celebrated.

Confidence and Self-Expression

A senior session is all about showcasing your teen’s personality—whether they’re bold and vibrant, soft and thoughtful, sporty, artistic, or something totally unique. It’s a space where they get to feel seen, celebrated, and confident. For so many seniors, this is the first time they’ve really had a photo session that’s all about them, and it can be incredibly empowering.

It’s one of my favorite things to witness—the moment when a senior sees their portraits and says, “Whoa… I look amazing!” Because they do. And they deserve to feel it.

A Gift for the Whole Family

Senior portraits aren’t just a gift for your teen—they’re for you, too. As parents, you’ve poured your heart into these years. You’ve watched them grow up, cheered them on, and stood by them through every season. These photos become a tangible reminder of who they were right before they stepped into the next big chapter.

You’ll treasure these images not just today, but for years to come—when their bedroom feels a little too quiet, or when you're looking back on everything they've become.

Marking the Moment

Graduating high school is a huge milestone. It’s a celebration of hard work, growth, and a step into independence. Senior portraits help mark that moment in a meaningful way. They freeze time for just a second, capturing a face full of potential, excitement, and hope.

Mr. and Mrs. Bergum

Doing a bit of catch up. I have known Ashley for sometime now. She and Wade have the best love story. They dated through high school, went on their different paths and found their way back to each other, like that time apart never happened. It was so wonderful to be a small part of documenting their love story. From their engagement session to the wedding. These two are a joy to be around their love is palpable. Here are a few of my favorites from their wedding. I cannot wait to see where their journey takes them.

Atlas

Welcome Atlas.. we are so happy you are here.

Anticipation

My good friend Louise from Hunter Cabin Co. is expecting her first child, any day now. We did a two part maternity session and here are some of my favorites from both. A special thanks to Pic-Buffalo studio and Ft. the Mullet for letting us use your spaces.

SAVANNAH WEDDING MARC AND ASHLEY

This summer I had the pleasure of getting to photograph a weddingin my favorite city in the United States. Savannah Georgia. It has been on my bucket list for quite sometime. But first let me start with a few of my favorites from their engagement session in the City Of Buffalo. We hit the Richardson hotel as well as forest lawn cemetary.

And Now the wedding… I was with them for their Rehersal dinner and we went and did some photos the night before the wedding it was so so much fun. I highly reccomend if you have the time do some photos the night before your wedding.

A winter wedding at Avanti Mansion

I met Cassidy years ago, infact I photographed her senior portraits. I was honored when she reached out and asked if I would document her wedding to her now husband Ryan, and obviously I was all in.

I was so excited to work wtih Anna and Nick. Anna is a dance teacher and is going to be branching out on her own and wanted some photos to use for branding. Nick tagged along and jumped in a few as well.
